Deborah Fraser, 39 years in the beauty industry, most of those years spent trying to inspire the next generation. Deborah has owned her own business, held management posts, worked in QA, and held the post of an examiner for national and international awarding bodies.

As well as working within Beauty, Deborah currently holds the post as a professional Development Tutor at North East Scotland College, which involves either helping new lecturers take their first tentative steps into the world of education or experienced staff updating their current skills. 

Deborah is a great believer in learning whether that takes the form of formal education, grass roots upwards or simply through the life of hard knocks.

Gavin Esslemont, Director of Etiom Events, involved in business for the past 12 years, considerable experience in commercial management and an eye for detail. 

Gavin was the founder of the Trades Awards, a celebration of local trades throughout the North-East of Scotland, and is also currently mentoring a number of small businesses to help them grow.


Isla Stewart, Business Development Manager, Marketing Specialist and keen interest in fashion design.

Rachel Pearce, Lectured in the beauty department for 15 years and the last 8 years has been spent in the role of Curriculum and Quality Manager. 

Served on the Executive Committee of the AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Therapists) for 5 years.  


Karen Stewart, Business Owner and Marketing Specialist. 

Karen is the founder of This Little Piggy Marketing, Grampian Business Finder and Grampian Business Finder GOLD. A qualified Digital Marketer with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and Diploma in Business Advice and Counselling. 

Karen previously spent 16 years as a Business Adviser. This Little Piggy provides practical online and offline marketing support, consulting and training to a wide variety of industries including the third sector, both in Scotland and UK wide. Karen is a huge music fan, and keen supporter of many causes including animal welfare, dementia and mental health.

 Lindsey Hope  

Lindsey Hope, Lectured in the beauty department for 15 years and the last 8 years has been spent in the role of Curriculum and Quality Manager.

 Margaret   Margaret Waldron, Former  solicitor with  25 years’ experience working in property and legal services in the Aberdeen area, the last 12 years spent running her own legal practice,  retiring from the law at the end of 2017.   Margaret is now working with VT Wealth Management Ltd., a partner practice of St. James’s Place. 

Margaret has been privileged to be involved in the judging panel with Trades Awards since its inception and has seen the huge benefits entering and achieving success in the Awards has had on those taking part.

In her free time, Margaret  enjoys travel with her husband David in their motor home, live music events, reading, dancing, and family times.

 Mubasher   Mubasher Choudry, Founder of Mubasher Choudry Family Law Solutions, providing bespoke services to clients with family law requirements specialising in complex financial cases and child law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours, is a member of the Family Law Association of Scotland, and is qualified to practice in collaborative family law.

Mubasher previously spent 9 years as an associate and senior associate in 2 large Aberdeen law firms. 

He is also a tutor at the University of Aberdeen, Mubasher speaks a number of languages and his interests include fashion, sports and music.


Denise Fyvie, founder of Men's Emporium and Hair Stylist / Trainer - In the hair and beauty industry for 39 years. Founded The Men’s Emporium in 2006. 

Award winning 2010, 2012 and finalist 2014, 2015, and won Best Barbers (North) in 2016/2017.
